ccsd is the project of João Quintela, begun in 2016 under the name gagat—a reference to the jet stone (“gagat” in Russian), historically used in Russian funeral and mourning traditions. He first emerged from high-BPM scenes—gabber, hardcore, and breakcore—before weaving in strands of drone and noise and developing a particular, if often conflicted, affinity for techno. True to its name, ccsd explores the tension where suffering becomes liberation.
